Our Vision

Born out of a deep love of the land, we developed Eagle's Nest as an homage to the natural world, and a place where both humanity and nature can thrive in harmony with one another.

Birth of a Vision

Eagle’s Nest was born out of co-founders Lawrence Alkin and Hen Azenkot’s deep love of the land, respect for the nature it houses with a vision to transform the uniquely situated site into a venue of eco-excellence.

Since moving to the area 20 years ago, Hen has developed strong relationships with locals who have lived in Guanacaste for generations. From planning to land management, local materials to regeneration, we work together. We continue to work side by side with these communities, sharing knowledge at every step of the way, because we believe building a healthy community means building a healthy world.

Founding Principles

Eagle’s Nest is underwritten by the principles of education, conservation, and personal growth. We work by a code of attentive sustainability, building with local materials, regenerating the forest, recycling, and harnessing renewable energy. We focus on experiential hands-on learning in an atmosphere of cooperation, collaboration, and creativity.

Our footprint is light and our focus is on nurturing the ecosystem, preserving what’s already in abundance and helping to restore depletion caused by human development. 50 of the 67 hectares are in a registered reforestation area and we want to help rebuild to the forest corridor to develop sustainable models of permaculture and ensure the survival of local wildlife.

Our Vision

Our vision is one of bringing people together; our venue is one of eco-excellence. We want people from all walks of life to gather in a natural learning environment and to inspire one another to live in sustainable ways. We believe in partnership with universities, educational institutions, and research centres, both here in Costa Rica and abroad.

Experience It

We invite people from around the world to host sustainable retreats and events, trails and tours, education programmes, and scientific research projects. We offer an environment for complete immersion to realign oneself with nature, from sleeping in eco-sound cabins to consuming locally sourced produce, from star-gazing, to bird-watching, to simply sitting in silence.

There is wisdom in these mountains and deep within all of us. With the eagle as our totem, our project promotes growth, freedom and transformation, for individuals, for the earth, and for the global community.

Eagle’s Nest is a place to join together, to collaborate and cooperate, to learn from and to support each other, and to develop models of sustainable collective living. Together we can brighten our futures by making our beautiful world a better place.
